Christmas Sales and Seasonal Inspiration

Let’s talk Christmas.

The most joyous time of year for many, reminiscent of twinkling lights, cheesy films and quality time with family.

If you’re thinking, how can we make this Christmas one to remember? How can I offer my customers something unique and inspiring? Then you’ve come to the right place.

Here at Gift Voucher Brilliance HQ, we have case studies, bright ideas and years of insider knowledge ready to share with you!

Our Top Tips

Christmas is the biggest sales date in the calendar for Gift Vouchers, with 54% of all sales happening in November and December! So we've listed 3 tips you should be considering to maximise your revenue.

1.       Create a dedicated Christmas gift voucher category, making it easier for your customers to find the perfect gifts all in one place. You could name the category something like ‘Christmas Gift Guide’ or ‘The Perfect Christmas List’ to really catch the attention of your customers.

2.       Advertise your vouchers! Put the link on your social media, people cannot buy a voucher if they don’t know it exists.

3.       Appeal to late buyers, by using social media or email newsletters. There will always be late Christmas eve shoppers, this is perfect for email vouchers which can be delivered instantly or on a selected date.

Case Studies

Client A – Generated £66,000 through targeted voucher campaign

Released a Christmas countdown campaign to a targeted audience using hidden vouchers. The campaign used a VIP invite to capture data through social media during November and December, the vouchers being sold were predominately stay and dining with an exclusive spa day voucher. The client generated £66,000 through the targeted voucher campaign as well as additional earnings through their normal voucher sales.

Client B – Sold £27,000 of vouchers through Christmas category shop

Sold overnight stays and dining vouchers through a Christmas Gifts category, promoted from early November using their email newsletter, social media accounts and a website pop up, which resulted in over £27,000 being generated.

Client C – 5-day sale campaign generated £21,000 in vouchers

Created a 5-day sale, promoting dining and spa day vouchers with a 25% discount code through social media and email newsletters which generated £15,000 in revenue. Crucially, this campaign also drove customers, throughout the month, to buy non discounted vouchers worth an additional £6,000.

Voucher inspiration, what can you offer?

Advent Countdown

How about releasing a different Christmas themed voucher each day, for the 12 days of Christmas or even promoting these vouchers through a hidden campaign to a targeted audience?

Gin, wine, whiskey, cake, the options are unlimited! Tastings are a great way to open your doors up to a new clientele. This also offers your customers a great gift personalised to suit their special someone’s likes.

This Christmas, how about adding on special extras to already existing vouchers. If you already offer a weekend getaway, how about adding on flowers in the room upon arrival or if you offer a dining package maybe have a bottle of bubbly waiting at their table. You can offer these vouchers with a shortened validity period, perhaps for six months instead of twelve to drive in these customers in the coming months!

Try Something Different

Why not offer your customers the chance to have a 1-2-1 or small group session with your head chef, pastry chef or even mixologist. Giving your customers the chance to learn something, like how to make your signature dinner, desert or cocktails! We think this would make a brilliant gift this Christmas and beyond!

Bottomless Brunch

Bottomless Brunch, Tipsy Tacos, Boozy Banquet, you’re only limited by your imagination! These get togethers are only increasing in popularity and serve as the daytime alternative to the typical night out. So, why not offer your guest’s a safe space to spend time together and talk over great food and bottomless drinks, in a selected time slot.

Embrace The new!

If you are offering a new service but don’t have time to run it until January, this is an easy fix, just make sure to put into the ‘Voucher Redemption’ section what date the voucher is valid from and to! This way you can get selling now and start your new venture in January.
