Father's Day is held on various days throughout the year worldwide, but the UK date of the third Sunday in June originated from The State of Washington in the US. One Sonora Smart Dodd encouraged it in 1909; she wanted to establish a celebration for father figures to match the similar symbolic day of Mother's Day. Much later, President Nixon made it a national holiday in 1972.

On this day in the UK, while it’s not essentially a national holiday, we do celebrate on a Sunday. Allowing many to take time and praise the men in our lives by treating them with cards and treats as we do our mother figures in March. However, many will agree when it comes to gifting; men are a tad trickier to buy for than women, so we hope to inspire you with some of our gift ideas that you can recreate in your gift shop to promote over the coming weeks.

As we’ve established, dads are notoriously difficult to buy for – what do you get the man that has everything and a need for nothing new? Well, how about gifting an experience? ….. You see where I'm going here. Gift vouchers are becoming increasingly popular gifts due to their flexible and versatile nature. You can gift a relaxing treat or a thrill-seeking experience, for the recipient to redeem when they wish to.

So, on that note, we’ve put together a list of the top tips to help you capitalize this Father's Day!

Create a Dedicated Category

You can use existing vouchers, or create bespoke ones, but group these under a new ‘Father’s Day’ category. This will remind customers whilst they shop that they need a gift for the upcoming celebration – and with this increased visibility your customers will know exactly where to find that perfect gift.

Featured Vouchers
